Joel's life

Joel was born on February 20, 1991, to his father, Mr Amone Serwano of Pamot in Padibe West, Lamwo district of Northern Uganda, and his mother, Korina Acayo of Store-Bor, Abakadyak, Lamwo district.

He grew up in a Christian family and lived a simple life. His parents were both peasant farmers who worked hard to raise Joel's other siblings. That being said, Joel also learnt to work the farms and is a hard worker.

Between 1986 and 2008, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) insurgencies ravaged the entire Northern Uganda, and Joel and his family moved back and forth to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps within Lamwo district.

Basically, he spent his childhood life in rural Lamwo, and only got exposed to the city and the rest of the world after he turned 19.

Joel is a friendly person, who gets along quite well with people and respects everyone irrespective of their age, gender, political belief, and other differences.

He is a well-travelled person, youth leader and mentor with experience across four continents.
