Article on Digital Learning in Uganda

Uganda closed its schools for the longest time (83 weeks) in COVID-19 history. While locked down, I decided to weigh in and analyze how digital learning projects were implemented in Uganda during the pandemic. On August 5, 2023, I published an article on Nile Post, a reputable Ugandan media organization, to inform Ugandans of key features of the Chinese political system. Unfortunately, not many Ugandans understand the differences between Chinese communism and our "democracy." In 2022, Joel joined the Africa CDC Bingwa Initiative, a youth-led campaign aimed at increasing COVID-19 vaccine uptake on the continent. Joel was chosen for this highly competitive initiative due to his experience in China, a country "blamed" for the outbreak. Learn more about the initiative here

Joel is currently working on a book chapter for the book The Pros and Cons of China and the Chinese in Africa: A Pan-African Perspective by Sabella Ogbobode Abidde, Ph.D., a professor of political science and a member of the graduate faculty at Alabama State University, USA.
